PHP Software Engineer

Supported by (and reporting to) the software engineering manager, you'll be joining a friendly team of 2 based in Westlake who believe in delivering high-impact, product-first innovative solutions that drive excellence in insurance technology.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for delivering high quality code to help improve efficiency of existing processes and deliver new insurance products to market.

You’ll be working on:

• The development of new insurance products, you’ll work with stakeholders on scoping, design, all the way through delivery and implementation.
• Our customer service tools (both self-serve for customers and for our staff).
• Improving our existing sales tools and building new integrations with tools like HubSpot and Argyle.

🎯 We don’t have a definite checklist of skills – our hiring process is much more about aptitude and passion than ticking boxes. So don’t worry if you haven’t used a particular tool or checked off all the listed skills and experience.

• Develop and maintain web applications using PHP, including integrating with databases and third-party APIs.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications and systems.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable, and high-performing.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to continually improve development practices.
• Document development processes, code, and other technical information.
• Work closely with project managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

What to expect from the process:

Screen & Intro: 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience.

First Interview: 60-minute video call with the software engineering manager and member of the people team to delve into the role, including technical questions, team fit and an opportunity for you to ask questions.

Second Interview: 45-minute video call with a call with couple of software engineers to delve into the role, including technical questions and an opportunity for you to ask questions.

What we offer

Our budget for this role is $100,000 to $135,000 and we will take into account any previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer.
