Job Summary:

Artemis is seeking a Graphic Designer with a deep understanding of digital content, graphic design and Section 508 compliance. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing a wide variety of content for a federal client. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience designing products including, but not limited to toolkits, web content, motion graphics, infographics, social media, flyers, slide decks and more.

The Graphic Designer role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience in management consulting. This position needs an individual that is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.

This mid-level position requires strong customer interaction skills and a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across multiple tasks.

This is a contingent hire position.

This is a remote role. However, travel for occasional in-person meetings may be required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translate complex, sensitive issues into visually appealing content that ensures materials are easy to read, understand and use.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • Create story-driven narratives using visual elements that form the foundation of digital outreach campaigns.
  • Develop conceptual design and layouts, sketches, drawings, publication designs, typographic layouts, artwork including electronic artwork, infographics, mapping, and co-branding.
  • Develop online widgets and social media how-to, templates for promoting preparedness, and events, videos, activity how-to, toolkits, indicator cards, pamphlets and brochures, infographics and webinars.
  • Recommend creative concept and new approaches for communication activities that incorporate leading best practices and methodologies.
  • Review products for Section 508 compliance and adherence to client branding guidelines..

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in a strategic role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Portfolio of work required.
  • Understanding of Section 508 accessibility guidelines and standards.
  • Proven experience leading digital content communications and outreach campaigns.
  • Experience developing digital communications products such as toolkits, slide decks, social media and more.
  • Demonstrated experience synthesizing complex information into appealing visuals for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry-leading software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to marketing trends and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
  • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Experience serving as the primary lead and point of contact on social media planning and engagement within a large federal agency.
  • Excellent time management, creative and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort with working in a largely remote environment.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Partnership and Engagement’s (OPE) mission is to ensure a unified approach to external engagement through coordination of DHS outreach efforts with critical stakeholders nationwide. OPE partners and conducts strategic engagements and outreach with state, local, tribal, territorial governments, elected officials, the private sector, faith-based and non-governmental organizations, academia, and communities.

Additionally, OPE is responsible for enterprise management of multiple areas such as the Homeland Security Advisory Council, the Tribal Homeland Security Advisory Council, the Faith-Based Security Advisory Council, the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board, the Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council, Strategic Engagement Coordination Council and the DHS Public Complaint and Feedback System.

OPE is comprised of the Front Office, the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Private Sector Office, the Office of Non-Government Organizations Engagement, the Committee Management Office and Enterprise Management and Social Impact, which administers the “If You See Something, Say Something®” public awareness campaign.
