Overview:

This person is a qualified individual and provides leadership of all maintenance and repair of the plant’s machinery, buildings and equipment. As the Lead Maintenance Technician position, this individual will provide technical support, training and documentation for other technicians.

This role will support the preventative maintenance program by evaluating, updating and documenting frequency and tasks. This role will primarily located in B15 with support as needed in B20

Responsibilities:

  • Review all pertinent SOP’s and is a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position
  • Leads and implements preventative maintenance schedules and other required records
  • Oversees and provide direction for 1-3 maintenance technicians/mechanics on work tasks, PM’s and reactive maintenance
  • Organizes maintenance personnel to their assigned work area & organizes team meetings with all coworkers
  • Ensures all safety trainings and schedules are met monthly and identifies gaps in training and process
  • Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors
  • Assigns work orders and ensure completion rates are met
  • Participates in all production tiered reviews and performance forums
  • Evaluates and identifies problems; repairs and maintains electrical/mechanical machinery and equipment
  • Installs new and/or relocates old equipment as needed
  • Performs all needed repairs and maintenance to buildings and grounds
  • Creates best practices and documents training SOPs for other technicians
  • Conducts 1on1 coaching/training on all technical procedures
  • Involved with all major project improvements
  • Works respectfully with all team members to ensure the Safety, Quality, production and support of our products and goals daily
  • Strive to be a safety solutions leader by maintaining the 200% for safety mindset. Participate in engagement activities, complete required safety training and aid in identifying hazards within the facility utilizing BBS and Safety Monitor programs.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  • Supports both processing and packaging facilities
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management

Qualifications:

  • Advanced level mechanical aptitude and accurate troubleshooting ability are required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills required
  • Read and interpret wiring schematics and blueprints
  • Ability to successfully work independently and as a team with minimal supervision to accomplish tasks as assigned.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification and safely maintain per company and OSHA standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – verbally & written – to and work well with Team Members, Management, Customers & Vendors.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation, ability to properly use/operate accurate tools and good math skills are required.
  • Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast paced environment.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required, Industrial Maintenance Degree preferred.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read and comprehend, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment. Must be able to push/pull 150 pounds short distances.
Lifting of up to 50 pounds repetitively. Standing required for up to 12 hours shifts with regular breaks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.

The noise level in the plant is loud.

SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beardnets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the employee.
