Instructional Coach (District-Wide)

Position

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum (or designee)

JOB SUMMARY: The Instructional Coach will support teachers in enhancing instructional practices, curriculum delivery, and student learning outcomes across K-12 classrooms.
Working collaboratively with teachers and administrators, the Instructional Coach
will provide on-site coaching, professional development, and facilitate data-driven

instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Instructional Support:
  1. Collaborate with teachers to design, implement, and refine instructional practices that align with
district goals and state standards.
  1. Provide individualized and group coaching, modeling lessons, and co-teaching as needed.
  2. Assist teachers in creating engaging, inclusive, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs
of all students, including Multilingual Learner students, students with disabilities, and advanced
learners.
  1. Professional Development:
  1. Plan and facilitate high-quality professional development sessions for teachers, administrators,
and staff on instructional strategies, curriculum alignment, and data usage.
  1. Stay current with research-based instructional practices and integrate them into school-wide
initiatives.
  1. Curriculum and Assessment:
  1. Work with curriculum coordinators and subject matter experts to ensure curriculum alignment
across grade levels and content areas.
  1. Assist teachers in using formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and
measure student progress.
  1. Support teachers in the effective use of instructional technology and other resources to enhance
learning.
  1. Data-Driven Instruction:
  1. Collaborate with teachers to analyze student performance data and develop action plans to
address learning gaps.
  1. Support teachers in setting goals, tracking student progress, and adjusting instruction based on
data.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  1. Serve as a liaison between teachers, administrators, and district leadership to ensure
instructional initiatives align with school and district goals.
  1. Participate in instructional leadership team meetings and contribute to district-wide instructional
planning.
  1. Build positive, collaborative relationships with staff and foster a culture of continuous
improvement.
  1. Instructional Resources:
  1. Identify, develop, and share resources and materials that support teachers in delivering high-
quality instruction.
  1. Provide guidance on the integration of culturally responsive teaching practices and diverse
instructional materials.
  1. Other:
  1. Performs other duties which may be assigned.
  2. Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job with reasonable

accommodations, if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid NJDOE Instructional Certification required; instructional coaching certification preferred.
  2. Master’s degree in education, curriculum, or related field preferred.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in a Pre K-12 setting. Experience in
curriculum design, professional development, or instructional leadership is highly desirable.
  1. Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data analysis.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Ability to provide constructive feedback and support to teachers.
  4. Proficiency in instructional technology tools and platforms.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment
  6. Demonstrated ability to perform in the areas of responsibility included in the job description
  7. Required criminal history background check and eligibility to work in the United States
  8. All applicants must meet NJ Residency requirements as per “New Jersey First Act,” N.J.S.A.
52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70)

professional staff
