Attorney/Lawyer

This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting comprehensive investigations of complaints against judges
• Collaborating with other staff attorneys to collect and review files
• Listening to and analyzing audio recordings as part of the investigation process
• Conducting in-depth legal research to support investigations and decisions
• Drafting litigation documents including pleadings and discovery documents when necessary
• Reviewing complaints, conducting witness interviews, and issuing subpoenas
• Filing recommendations based on investigation findings
• Working in a litigation-based role, without direct involvement in trials
• Collaborating with other attorneys for training and meetings, primarily in the initial phase.
• Must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Must have the ability to conduct thorough and effective investigations
• Proficient in litigation processes and procedures
• Must have strong legal research skills
• Ability to draft legal documents with precision and accuracy
• Experience in drafting motions in various legal contexts
• Proficient in drafting pleadings for court proceedings
• Must be a member of the State Bar or eligible for admission
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to resolve disputes
• Familiarity with legal databases and software for research and case management
