Job Overview:The Supplier Diversity Manager is vital to support our CA/AZ regional office in establishing and maintaining positive relationships between our organization and the communities we serve. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing outreach programs and initiatives aimed at engaging with various stakeholders, including Skanska project teams, subcontractors, owners, and the workforce.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a passion for supplier diversity, workforce development, program maintenance and compliance, community development and advocacy.

Internal/External Supplier Diversity
  • Supplier Diversity program execution (applicable laws, regulation and governance);
  • Develop and manage the regional offices’ supplier diversity strategy in partnership with leadership;
  • Present and deliver Supplier Diversity updates to management and/or leadership;
  • Facilitate trainings with operations and project teams on how to partner with Supplier Diversity
  • Diverse Business (DB) Recruitment along with regional subcontractor recruitment and outreach;
  • Assist in identifying new subcontractor relationships in the local geography, including the creation of partnerships between first tier and lower tier subcontractors;
  • Manage and facilitate DB subcontractor development programs;
  • Partner with Preconstruction to understand opportunities for DB firms;
  • Coordinate quarterly DB events in office to introduce community DBs to Operations and Preconstruction leadership;
  • Participate/represent the company at external outreach events;
  • Identify key business advocacy partners and assess return on investment for CA and AZ markets
  • Assist DBs with the Skanska Prequalification process;
  • Assist with DB participation plans and RFQ/RFP responses, and participate in client presentations to relay the dynamic DB program we offer;
  • Source DB databases to identify potential subcontractors
  • Assist project teams in identifying potential DB firms that would fit a project and help brainstorm on ways to get them involved;
  • Maintain database of prequalified diverse businesses and play integral part in the relationship building;
Community Outreach
  • Develop Outreach Strategies: Design and implement comprehensive outreach strategies to effectively connect with target populations and foster community engagement;
  • Build Partnerships: Establish and nurture relationships with community organizations, local businesses, government agencies, Diverse Business (DB) subcontractors, General Trade Subcontractors and other stakeholders to collaborate on outreach efforts and leverage resources; utilizing community network to enhance relationships;
  • Communicate Effectively: Serve as a liaison between our organization and the community by effectively communicating information, resources, and opportunities through various channels such as social media, newsletters, press releases, and public presentations;
  • Identify Needs and Opportunities: Conduct outreach assessments and community needs assessments to identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities for improvement within the community;
  • Monitor and Evaluate Outreach Efforts: Track and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts through data collection, analysis, and feedback from stakeholders, and make adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes;

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree;
  • 5 to 10 years of supplier diversity, community outreach or equivalent experience;
  • Experienced in written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experienced with developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, business leaders, and community organizations;
  • Experienced with working with board organizations and their members;
  • Strong organizational skills to track status of Supplier Diversity Manager requirements. Provide monthly reporting to regional leadership on trends, initiatives, and upcoming activities.
