Vice President & Portfolio Manager, Spectrum Asset Management
What You'll Do:
We’re looking for a Vice President and Portfolio Manager to join our Spectrum Asset Management team. In this role, you’ll manage assigned portfolios and trading sectors to outperform the market and meet the investment goals outlined by the client while maintaining consistently strong investment performance.Work with the credit team to leverage your knowledge and experience in relevant industry sectors. Provide leadership in other related functions including marketing, client service, staff development and strategic planning.
- Portfolio construction. Independently determine active weightings that consistently produce top tier investment performance following established investment policy guidelines. Performance will be viewed both internally and externally as top-performing. Shared responsibility for management of portfolios, funds and accounts.
- Security selection. Identify securities to be held within the portfolio determined following established investment philosophy and process. Display leadership in explaining to a portfolio management team, when necessary, as to the rationale supporting the decision.
- Credit, economic and industry analysis. Monitor, leverage and share your knowledge and experience in relevant industry sectors to help enhance and refine credit research decisioning. Monitor economic data and trends through independent research and reviewing staff analyst reports. Identify ways to better track relevant data. Critically evaluate compiled data to gauge how trends and industry conditions will impact related securities. Views should prove to be consistently accurate. Provide staff analyst with thought-provoking feedback that will aid in their development of skills related to this function.
- Marketing. Present a favorable image when required to participate in consultant meetings, client meetings, finals presentations and media interviews. Demonstrate the ability to perform this duty independently and in a fashion that inspires third parties to have increased confidence in the firm. Build relationships, which leads to additional business for the firm. Actively engage in new business development; consultant and client relationship development and management; product development; and client service activity.

Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required with emphasis in finance, economics or accounting
- 10+ years of relevant experience in analysis and/or related industry
- Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of global economies, investment theories, investment strategy, investment philosophy, and investment vehicles
- Experience in global preferred and capital securities, their various structures and trading markets, and the industries from which they are issued
- FINRA SIE and Series 7 licensing required within 12 months of hire
- CFA
- Client-focused with consistent track record to create and implement initiatives to meet strategic objectives
- Proven abilities in the areas of investment management, portfolio management, fixed income trading credit analysis and research, written and verbal communication, presentations, and relationship building
- Resiliency and ability to make decisions quickly and effectively in a highly competitive environment with incomplete information
Overnight travel is required.
Salary Range Information:Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range: $193000 - $279000 / year
Time Off Program:Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
