Sr. Buyer

Must have a basic understanding of FAR/DFAR and other Government agency specific regulations. Have a minimum of 5-7 years of purchasing or subcontract experience, a basic understanding of price analysis methodologies, have an intermediate knowledge of the MS Office Suite and MS SharePoint, have excellent communication, organizational and writing skills, be a self‐starter, and able to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Full execution and implementation of corporate level procurements
• Implement strategic sourcing plan from sourcing to the issuance of Basic Ordering Agreements to leverage common spend across the enterprise, including but not limited to office/janitorial supplies, PPE and MRO purchases, uniforms and fleet management (lease/rentals)
• Performs market research
• Develops and awards strategic relationships with vendors/suppliers
• Assesses vendor risk & balance against optimum quality & schedule needs
• Prepares vendor request for quote/proposal (RFQ/RFP)
• Develops and issues consulting agreements in accordance with Akima policies and procedures
• Creates and maintains Akima level purchase orders and all accompanying actions in compliance with CPSR and Akima requirements
• Develops procurement evaluation considerations
• Evaluates vendor RFQ/RFP responses to determine most desirable path forward (including cost/price analysis)
• Develops and executes negotiation position
• Negotiates Price, terms and conditions, and lead time
• Performs activities related to procurement of goods or services utilizing the Costpoint Materials module and Akima’s internal request ticketing system
• Manages tasks with little to no assistance
• Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Able to re-prioritize as the need arises
• Reviews and negotiates Non-Disclosure Agreements
• Assists in CPSR audit preparedness
• Responsible for management of Akima’s rental/leased vehicle fleet. These duties include:
• Planning, scheduling, and coordinating the lease of vehicles for operations.
• Ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and in compliance with safety regulations
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Communicating with drivers and vendors, and addressing complaints
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

In addition to the requirements below, candidate must possess the ability to meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commercial and government environments
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary to meet critical deadlines.
• Working knowledge of FAR/DFAR and agency specific regulations
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications
• Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
• Experience purchasing and maintaining records in a CPSR environment.
