Overview:
The Occupational Therapist provides evidence based assessment and treatment of a variety of diagnoses including, but not limited to, musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary dysfunction to the organization’s patient population. Services include appropriate utilization of treatment plans and assessment skills, monitoring of patient’s status, progress toward goals, and compliance with the consultant’s orders.The Occupational Therapist is responsible for educating patients and caregivers while preparing the patient/caregiver for discharge as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluation, reassessment, treatment, and education are developed based on patient’s age and specific needs, particularly in the areas of body system function, cognition, psychological function, nutritional status, overall performance of ADL’s, IADL’s and educational needs.
- Reassesses the rehabilitation needs of each patient. Establishes realistic problem list and attainable goals appropriate to the setting. Makes necessary revisions to the plan of care, adjusting problems and goals as indicated.
- Observe, record, and report the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient’s condition to the appropriate members of the healthcare team as needed. Complete a functional assessment of the patient according to departmental and organizational policy.
- Educate patient, family and/or caregiver and other personnel on alternate techniques and use of adaptive equipment to complete ADL’s. Educate and document in the patient record instructions given to patient, caregiver, and/or family member or other health care personnel.
- Submit accurate and timely documentation in accordance with departmental and organizational policies as well as meets the productivity standards that have been set by management.
- Delegate appropriate patient care/treatment task to the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant as define by the Florida Practice Laws and utilize the restorative tech efficiently and effectively.
- Promote coordination of care through interdisciplinary communication in accordance with departmental and organizational policies. Make referrals to other disciplines as indicated by the needs of the patient.
Qualifications:
Education / Training- Graduate AOTA accredited Occupational Therapy Program
- 1-year Occupational Therapy experience.
- Occupational Therapy License in the state of Florida
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Level II AHCA Background Check (Home Care Only)
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Background Check (Home Care Only)
- Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorder (ADRD) 2-hour course (Home Care Only)
Additional Information:
BLS, provided by American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.Level II AHCA Background Check required for Home Care.
Must have good driving record. Valid Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required for MVR Background Check for Home Care.
Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorder (ADRD) 2-hour course (Home Care Only) required within 90 days of employment.
