Job Summary:
Responds immediately to critical events. Adjusts staffing levels to ensure the highest level of patient care. Functions as a clinical and administrative resource for the nursing staff. Assists staff with conflict resolution (i.e. staff/physician, patient/physician, staff/staff).Advocates for patients, families, and staff. Supports other departments to meet patient needs.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds immediately to critical events- Provides leadership and follow – up during critical events such as code blue, code red and code 100.
- Provides appropriate follow – up (i.e. staff education, documentation, family / staff support, etc.).
- Evaluates staffing needs continuously and adjusts as necessary to meet the needs of the patient for the current and next shifts.
- Functions as a clinical and administrative resource for the nursing staff and other supervisors.
- Provides clinical consultation, advice and education.
- Assists staff with problems.
- Completes all employee performance evaluations by evaluation due dates.
- Mediates conflict.
- Reports and communicates situation appropriately.
- Intervenes on patient / staff behalf.
- Supports patients’ rights.
- Maintains operations of other departments during non-operating hours.
- Functions as an administrative resource for other departments during non-operative hours.
- Responsible to weekly/monthly staffing for supervisor department.
- Weekly payroll or by designee for department.
- Collaborates with Manager/Director on employee evaluations for department.
- Coordinates with Managers/Directors of other departments to optimize patient care services and staffing levels.

Qualifications:
Job Requirements
Minimum Education- Associate’s degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current RN registration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
- 3-4 years acute care supervisor experience preferred.
- AHA CPR certified (preferred)
- AHA ACLS certified (preferred)
- Leadership attributes and decision-making skills.
- Previous experience in management and / or leadership role required.
