**1.0 FTE, 40 hrs/week, night shift, 4 10-hour shifts from 9p-7a or 7p-5a depending on schedule needs. Occasional weekends as needed.**

2 years of ED leadership experience required, pediatric preferred.

The Emergency Department Supervisor serves as administrative designee during hours that administrative staff are not on premises. Manages and oversees the ED operations on evening and night shift. The ED Supervisor is a mentor and resource for staff.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as administrative designee during hours that administrative staff is not on premises.
  2. Manages and oversees ED operations on designated shifts.
  3. Communicates/collaborates with ED Nursing leadership, staff and providers regarding decisions, issues, and/or problems occurring during designated shift.
  4. Responds to and serves as a resource and advocate to staff/families, parents to resolve issues, problem solve and promote customer satisfaction.
  5. Directs ED and other staff in the management and resolution of emergent and or crises.
  6. Demonstrates knowledge of the Emergency Preparedness and disaster triage. Provides effective leadership and communication during emergencies and disasters.
  7. Coordinates and directs ED throughout (admission, transfer, and discharge) to ensure that patient/family needs are met promptly.
  8. Evaluates nursing staff performance in select situations and provides input to written evaluations as requested.
  9. Assesses individual patient, parent, and unit needs as necessary to direct staff and resolve problems.
  10. Assesses staffing needs for the ED assists in proactive planning for future shifts.
  11. Facilitates and collaborates with other departments and individuals including Protective Services, Social Work, PCS Nursing Supervisor, PCD, EVS, Patient Access, and PCTC to facilitate ED patient flow and admissions.
  12. Maintains select clinical nursing skills in order to direct and assist in patient care and the education of nursing personnel.
  13. Promotes teamwork by building a team environment and fostering cross functional collaboration.
  14. Supervises Charge RNs and other ED staff and provides feedback regarding job performance.
  15. Responds to code blues, traumas, code violets and other emergencies.
  16. Demonstrates accountability for personal/professional growth by reading current literature and attending internal/external education programs as appropriate for the role.

Qualifications:

The Emergency Department Supervisor reports to the ED Program Manager. This position directly supervises ED staff.

Experience: 2 years of ED Leadership required, pediatrics preferred.
Education: BSN, or ADN with ED leadership experience and must get BSN within 5 years of hire.

Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Certifications:

  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Must obtain CPEN within two years of hire.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.

Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
