Senior Upgrade Project Support Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Upgrade Project Support Specialist to provide expert guidance and support in upgrading and modifying the Health Care and Administration Services (HCAS) systems and other acquisition-related technical capabilities at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The ideal candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of system upgrades, ensuring system availability and supportability across both production and non-production environments.

Upgrade and Modification Support:

  • Lead the planning and execution of system upgrades for HCAS and other acquisition-related technical capabilities.
  • Ensure upgrades are conducted efficiently, maintaining system availability and supportability in both production and non-production instances.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement necessary modifications to meet evolving system requirements.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify system upgrade requirements and align objectives with organizational goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for upgrade-related inquiries and provide clear communication on project progress, timelines, and any potential impacts.

System Maintenance and Support:

  • Provide ongoing support for the HCAS system and associated technical capabilities, ensuring that system modifications do not affect system performance.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise during upgrades and provide timely resolutions to minimize disruptions.

Production and Non-Production Environment Management:

  • Oversee upgrades and modifications across both production and non-production environments, ensuring consistent performance and reliability.
  • Monitor system health post-upgrade and ensure that all instances remain fully functional.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of upgrade processes, system changes, and modifications to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Prepare and present progress reports and updates to stakeholders and leadership.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in IT system upgrades, maintenance, or support, with a focus on large-scale systems in government or healthcare environments.
  • Proven track record of managing complex system upgrades across production and non-production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with HCAS or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of system upgrade processes, including planning, execution, troubleshooting, and post-upgrade support.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout the upgrade process.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in system maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
