Accounting Administrative Assistant

We are in the non-profit sector, searching for an Accounting Administrative Assistant to join our team located in the Downtown Manhattan area. This role offers a ongoing contract employment opportunity, where you will be primarily tasked with maintaining financial records, processing payroll and payables in QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately reconcile bank accounts and maintain financial records
  • Efficiently manage payroll and ensure all details are up-to-date
  • Utilize Excel, Quickbooks Online
  • Use Expensify for expense management and reporting
  • Provide administrative support to the accounting team
  • Respond to and resolve any accounting related inquiries
  • Monitor financial transactions and reports
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Work closely with the team to optimize accounting practices.
  • Must possess a solid understanding of bank account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in using Expensify for expense management is required.
  • Should have prior experience in payroll processing.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage administrative tasks effectively.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Should be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
