Accounting Administrative Assistant

We are in the non-profit sector, searching for an Accounting Administrative Assistant to join our team located in the Downtown Manhattan area. This role offers a ongoing contract employment opportunity, where you will be primarily tasked with maintaining financial records, processing payroll and payables in QuickBooks.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately reconcile bank accounts and maintain financial records
- Efficiently manage payroll and ensure all details are up-to-date
- Utilize Excel, Quickbooks Online
- Use Expensify for expense management and reporting
- Provide administrative support to the accounting team
- Respond to and resolve any accounting related inquiries
- Monitor financial transactions and reports
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Work closely with the team to optimize accounting practices.
- Must possess a solid understanding of bank account reconciliation.
- Proficiency in using Expensify for expense management is required.
- Should have prior experience in payroll processing.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage administrative tasks effectively.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail are required.
- Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Should be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
