Health Education Center Training Specialist (part-time/1040 hours/year/LTE) @ Northwood Tech Shell Lake HEC
Overview:
Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time Health Education Specialist at the Shell Lake Health Education Center (HEC). This is an LTE (limited term employment) position through February 28, 2027, with the DOL Strengthening Community Colleges 3 grant.
The Health Education Center Training Specialist is responsible for the daily technical operations for Standardized Patient/Telehealth and Anatomage Table at the Health Education Center. The Specialist maintains support equipment, troubleshoots problems and provides training in the standardized patient/telehealth and Anatomage environment.

- Understand the use and operation of different standardized patient/telehealth and Anatomage Table technologies and educational software used at the Health Education Center (HEC), necessary to provide a highly immersive training environment.
- Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and repair for standardized patient/telehealth and Anatomage equipment at the Health Education Center (HEC).
- Collaborate with local campuses to facilitate connections with Telehealth Hubs via web-conferencing software and any related learning technologies.
- Prepare the facility, audiovisual systems, and equipment for training sessions; clean up and reset equipment after educational sessions.
- Operate and interact with audiovisual equipment used during live standardized patient/telehealth and Anatomage experiences.
- Learn, install, and configure original hardware and software updates provided by vendors.
- Assist in researching equipment and supply vendors and upgrading standardized patient/telehealth and Antamage Table
- Monitor equipment performance and safety.
- Perform routine, preventive maintenance of equipment (according to manufacturers' recommendations) and repairs to ensure that equipment is operational.
- Maintain and troubleshoot problems with the AV system, Anatomage Table and support equipment.
- Serve as a point of contact and interface with equipment manufacturers to maintain functionality, repair equipment, and fix system problems; maintain a record of repairs.
- Serve as a resource and assist with training instructors and staff in the use of standardized patient/ telehealth equipment.
- Train instructors in the use of the Anatomage Table.
- Support standardized patient/telehealth and Anatomage Table sessions, trainings, tours, and events for internal and external groups and/or individuals.
- Monitor and keep track of utilization statistics for events and training, including the use of the Anatomage Table.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Health Sciences, Instructional Technology and other collegewide staff, as relevant.
- Recruit, on-board, and train standardized patients.
- Maintain calendar of standardized patient and telehealth events.
- Review and process requests for standardized patient and telehealth events at the Health Education Center.
- Become expert using the computer dissection platform (Anatomage Table) to serve as a faculty resource.
- Coordinate and communicate proactively with the Health Education Center (HEC) Simulation Specialist and other key staff.
- Participate in recruitment events at the Health Education Center.
- Provide Health Education Center tours, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Degree & Experience Required:
- Associate’s degree in related field
- Four years related work experience
- Registered Nurse or another Health Professional
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects
- Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining positivity and professionalism
- Strong customer service skills and a focus on creative problem solving
- Time management skills that apply organization and prioritization demonstrating the ability to multitask and work independently
- Ability to obtain driver’s license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy
- Proficiency in PC based computer software applications, web-conferencing and audiovisual technologies.
Preferred:
- Experience with educational simulation
Salary:
FY 25 Salary - Grade J - $26.26 / hour
