Stormwater Project Engineer

Gannett Fleming is seeking a Stormwater Project Engineer offering strong technical expertise to join our Water practice in Houston or Fort Worth, TX offices.

In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the infrastructure that supports and protects communities. By developing critical drainage impact studies, master plans, and innovative design solutions, you will help mitigate flooding, enhance public safety, and support sustainable development.

Your work on complex hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) projects will directly influence the well-being of residents, ensuring that roadways, neighborhoods, and public spaces remain accessible and secure in the face of natural challenges. Through your leadership and expertise, you’ll be contributing to long-term resilience and improving the quality of life for countless people, all while collaborating with a dedicated team to deliver essential public infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of drainage impact studies, master plans and engineering reports (including CLOMRS & LOMRS)
  • Lead the development of project design concepts, criteria, construction plans and reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Works with client and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work
  • Analyzes complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures
  • Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability
  • Provides input for proposals and pursuit of new projects
  • Provides direction to and supervision for junior level staff
  • Makes recommendations on project staffing
  • Communicates independently with clients
  • Manages design team integrated with multiple disciplines of about 5-10 people
  • Minimum Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 8+ years of applicable H&H experience
  • Expertise with ArcGIS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-HMS, XP SWMM (1D/2D)
  • AutoCAD/Microstation (preferred)
  • Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience with project proposals and presentations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks
