Legal Assistant - Silver Spring

We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team, based in SILVER SPRING, Maryland. In this role, you will be involved in handling a variety of legal administrative tasks in employment litigation cases. Your key responsibilities will encompass client interaction, document management, and case tracking.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with potential clients who are seeking representation, gather comprehensive information about their legal issues through telephone interviews and email correspondences.
  • Prepare a written preliminary summary after gathering information for further review by an attorney.
  • Request, review, and file relevant documentation from potential clients.
  • Conduct initial conflict checks to ensure there is no conflict of interest in representing potential clients.
  • Organize initial consultation appointments between potential clients and attorneys.
  • Efficiently track potential client activity, from initial contact through representation or case closure, in case management software systems and reports.
  • Conduct follow-ups with attorneys, as needed, on next steps for potential representation after initial consultations.
  • Utilize your proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat in executing your duties.
  • Handle large or voluminous sets of documents including medical and payroll records with attention to detail.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment with different personalities and varying schedules.
  • Demonstrable experience in Administrative Office roles
  • Proven track record in Administrative roles, preferably in a legal setting
  • Proficiency in Client Intake and Intake Interviews
  • Prior experience as a Legal Assistant
  • Knowledge of Legal Services and procedures
  • Ability to efficiently use a Multi-Line Phone System
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in using office equipment and software
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
