Position Description:
The Materials & Process Development (M&PD) Technician will support development of the technology and commercial-scale manufacturing footprint required to make high-performance permanent magnets for cutting-edge applications. This position will support key projects across a broad range of initiatives, including development of materials for optimum performance, manufacturing process development and optimization, and more.This is an opportunity to be a part of the development team driving the creation of an advanced manufacturing facility and helping to define the future of American manufacturing.
Essential Duties:
- Conduct experiments utilizing wet chemical processes, furnaces, gloveboxes, other metal processing equipment, and materials characterization tools.
- Execute test plans, make detailed observations, and communicate observations to leaders and teammates.
- Plot and analyze data to document results in an organized and effective manner.
- Develop documentation for experimental procedures.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Other tasks as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate of Applied Science or equivalent in a technical field.
- Experience operating laboratory and/or manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with computers and data entry and analysis.
Desired Qualities:
- Experience working with chemicals, metal powders, gloveboxes, and furnaces.
- Knowledge of basic metallurgy processes and materials characterization equipment.
- Strong technical and communication skills to coordinate working with a variety of teammates, execute technical trials, and document processes and results.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented person who can solve problems, exercise sound judgement, and act autonomously in his/her daily work.
