Logistics Coordinator

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00/hour (Non-exempt)

Job Overview: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods within the supply chain. This role involves coordinating transportation, managing shipments, communicating with vendors and customers, and maintaining accurate documentation.The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shipment Coordination: Arrange and track the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to customer requirements.
- Vendor Communication: Liaise with carriers, suppliers, and warehouses to coordinate shipping schedules, resolve delays, and manage service levels.
- Documentation Management: Prepare and maintain shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, and invoices, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Tracking and Reporting: Monitor shipments in transit and provide updates to relevant parties, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of delivery statuses.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels by coordinating stock movements between locations and ensuring accurate inventory records.
- Problem Solving: Quickly address and resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, or delays, working with suppliers and internal teams to develop solutions.
- Cost Optimization: Work with the procurement/operations team to find cost-effective transportation solutions and negotiate rates with carriers.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with local, state, and international regulations, including customs requirements and safety standards.
- Process Improvement: Assist in identifying opportunities to streamline logistics processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain coordination.
- Proficiency with logistics software and systems (e.g., ERP, WMS, TMS).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and international shipping.
- Experience in dealing with import/export documentation and customs regulations.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding and carrier negotiations.
- Certifications such as Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
