Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and write articles on Colorado's nature and wildlife
  • Reach out over email / phone to conduct interviews with experts in the field of conservation and wildlife
  • Create engaging articles that focus on bringing forward interesting facts
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Collaborate with the content management team to publish articles
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Stay updated on current trends and developments in wildlife conservation
  • Create informative guides and fact sheets on local wildlife species
  • Promote articles and content through social media channels (reddit, Tripadvisor, social media)
  • Assist in outreach and engagement initiatives with the community
  • Contribute to the overall mission of promoting natural heritage
Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for nature, wildlife, and conservation
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and interviews
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
  • Basic knowledge of content management systems (CMS) or able to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail and strong editing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools
  • Have your own computer and able to join meetings regularly
  • Ability to receive well considered and constructive criticism
  • Ability to research and self-learn between sessions to self-solve
Beneficial Experience (this is completely optional - NONE of this is required, just good types of experience)
  • Previous experience in writing or journalism
  • Familiarity with Colorados ecosystems and wildlife
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Experience with graphic design software to create your own visuals
  • Participation in wildlife conservation projects or initiatives
  • Experience with public speaking or presenting
  • Familiar with Wordpress or Ghost
  • Experience with engaging on social media via comments and posts
  • Strong communication skills and detail oriented
  • An eye for aesthetically-pleasing color schemes, fonts and shapes
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and writing skills
  • Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas
  • Able to multi-task and effectively manage several tasks at once
This internship will last for a period of 6 months and does not provide any compensation. The internship will provide you access to learn about different content management solutions, how to work on a team and work with feedback to develop high quality articles.

This allows you to be able to add popular new publishing technologies to your resume in a 6 month period to stand out going forward! Paid opportunities are considered after the internship, to be discussed with individual candidates based on performance and other business factors.
