Staff Accountant
We are a dynamic design, build and technology studio serving the experiential marketing, location based entertainment, and museum industries constantly evolving with each and every unique project.
We are looking for a Part-Time, experienced, ambitious Staff Accountant to fulfill a dual role in our company that combines Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis. We are seeking an individual with an Accounting degree or CPA with strong analytical capabilities.This role will report directly to our Controller.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The core responsibilities of the role will be accounting-related, with a focus on more complex tasks that require a pre-existing knowledge of GAAP accounting, accounting and financial reporting technology and an ability to roll up your sleeves and adapt quickly.This component of this position is not learn-on-the-job: you must display a strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience managing complex accounting to be considered for the role.
In addition, you will be asked to assume ownership of a series of Financial Planning & Analysis reports at the direction of Company leadership. This reporting requires strong financial modeling skills, an ability to think systematically about data flows and architectures and a desire to drive real change at the organization.Your ability to own this workstream, while managing the accounting responsibilities, will be the key driver of your growth at the Company.
ACCOUNTING
The job responsibilities of our Staff Accountant related to Accounting include, but are not limited to:
- Daily soft bank reconciliations and general ledger entries
- Recurring journal entries and associated work papers and data such as accrued revenue, payroll entries, intercompany transactions and prepaid expenses
- Tracking, invoicing & reconciliation of pass-through expenses
- In-house expert on the Accounting team’s technology and ownership of syncs between data systems (QuickBooks, Expensify, Bill.com)
FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS
The job responsibilities of our Staff Accountant related to FP&A include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare reports and analysis at the direction of the Company Leadership, including project-level Estimates vs. Actuals, monthly budget vs. actuals, overhead expense analysis and other ad-hoc reporting as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience / Skills- Accounting degree preferred
- 5-7 years of accounting experience
- Experience in an FP&A-type role, creating reporting and dashboards that drove company performance
- Attention to detail, ability to create process where there is none, and analytical
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), job costing and cost control measures
- Interest and understanding of various software, apps and technology that drive efficiencies
- Excellent financial modeling skills
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Timeliness and accuracy of Accounting entries
- Ability to build, maintain and communicate process effectively to leadership
- Desire to drive forward internal reporting cadence and quality
This position is based in the Philly area; candidates must live in the area or be open to relocation. This is an on-site Part-Time (3 days in office) position.
