Part-Time Accounting Assistant - Santa Barbara

The position will require the use of specific accounting software and will require communication with residents.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the handling of cash receipts and bank deposits
• Undertake collection efforts via phone calls, and emails
• Communicate with residents about balance issues
• Update accounting software with tenant rent charges
• Process lease documentation including assignments, subleases, amendments, extensions, and rent increases
• Provide backup coverage to the front desk as needed
• Assist in special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager
• Handle the processing of Section 8 paperwork
• Maintain accuracy and organization in data entry tasks.
• Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
• Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Knowledge of auditing practices
• Experience with collections
• Familiarity with AppFolio software is a plus
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
• Strong problem-solving skills
