We are seeking an experienced Lead Litigation Attorney to oversee and guide a team of litigation attorneys specializing in immigration law. The Lead Litigation Attorney will be responsible for managing cases involving USCIS interviews and removal hearings, ensuring high-quality representation for clients while leading the litigation team to success.

This role requires a strong foundation in immigration law, particularly in representing clients before USCIS and EOIR, as well as excellent leadership and management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Leadership:
  • Oversee, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of litigation attorneys.
  • Review and approve case strategies, briefs, motions, and filings.
  • Ensure the litigation team adheres to firm standards and meets all deadlines.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support professional development for team members.
  • Case Management:
  • Handle a personal caseload, representing clients in complex immigration cases, including USCIS interviews and removal hearings before EOIR.
  • Monitor the progress of cases handled by the team and ensure all necessary steps are taken to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Provide advice and guidance on complex or high-stakes cases requiring advanced legal strategy.
  • Litigation Coordination:
  • Oversee the litigation coordination department to ensure all interviews and hearings are covered by an attorney.
  • Work closely with the litigation coordination supervisor to manage scheduling and coverage effectively.
  • Communicate with USCIS, immigration judges, and other relevant parties to facilitate case progress and ensure smooth operations.
  • - Court & USCIS Representation:
  • Represent clients at removal hearings, asylum proceedings, bond hearings, and other immigration-related litigation.
  • Attend USCIS interviews and manage litigation strategy before the agency, including preparation of clients for interviews and hearings.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive case strategies.
  • Serve as a liaison between the litigation team and firm leadership to communicate updates, challenges, and performance metrics.
  • Training & Development:
  • Organize and lead training sessions for the litigation team on new legal developments, strategies, and best practices.
  • Stay current on immigration laws and policies and ensure the team is informed of any relevant updates.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
  • Ensure all cases comply with ethical and legal standards.
  • Monitor and report on team performance, productivity, and case outcomes to firm leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in any state.
  • Preferred minimum 5 years of experience in immigration, including USCIS and EOIR representation.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a legal setting, preferably in immigration law.
  • Strong knowledge of immigration law, especially in removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and related areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and supervise a team effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a team of attorneys or legal professionals.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities (especially in Spanish).
