Job Description
  • Supplier Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers specializing in EV components, including battery cells, battery management systems (BMS), charging modules, and power electronics.
  • Build strong relationships with tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers in the EV ecosystem to ensure continuity of supply and innovation.
  • Monitor supplier performance on critical metrics such as cost, quality, reliability, and sustainability, while resolving supply chain issues that may impact EV production.
  • Procurement Strategy (EV Focused):
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for electrical components specific to EVs, ensuring alignment with product development, engineering, and manufacturing timelines.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed on trends in the EV industry, including advancements in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and regulatory standards.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts and supply agreements to secure competitive pricing, volume flexibility, and supply chain stability for key EV components.
  • Cost Optimization and Budget Management:
  • Lead cost-reduction initiatives for high-value EV components such as batteries, motor controllers, and electric drivetrains, ensuring cost competitiveness in a rapidly evolving market.
  • Work with finance and engineering teams to analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) for EV-specific components, balancing cost savings with quality and performance requirements.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with the overall budget for EV production and development programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with R&D, product development, and engineering teams to ensure procured components meet the technical and performance specifications needed for next-generation EVs.
  • Partner with manufacturing and production teams to align component availability with production schedules and ramp-up plans.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure sourced components meet or exceed automotive and EV-specific safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 26262, UL certifications).
  • Sustainability and Innovation:
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that sourced components comply with sustainability goals, including battery recycling, reduced carbon footprint, and responsible sourcing of materials (e.g., cobalt, lithium).
  • Support initiatives to source and adopt cutting-edge EV technologies, ensuring that the procurement strategy evolves with industry advancements in electrification and autonomous driving.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Utilize advanced procurement tools and data analytics to track supplier performance, component pricing trends, and supply chain risks, specifically within the EV market.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on procurement performance, cost savings, and recommendations for sourcing EV components.
  • Monitor industry and supplier data to forecast trends and ensure supply chain readiness for upcoming EV models and launches.
  • Risk Management:
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure reliable sourcing of critical EV components, including batteries and power electronics, where market volatility and shortages can impact production.
  • Manage supplier compliance with regulatory requirements specific to electric vehicles, such as emissions standards and hazardous materials regulations (REACH, RoHS).

The Successful Applicant
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience in EV or automotive industry preferred.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in the automotive or EV sector, with a focus on sourcing electrical components (batteries, inverters, electric motors).
  • In-depth knowledge of the EV industry, including key suppliers, component pricing trends, and technological advancements (e.g., lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries).
  • Proficiency in procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience in complex contract negotiations and supplier agreements.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
