Senior Oncology Narrative Writer

The oncology narrative writer works independently and as part of a team, collaborates with subject matter experts, physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical specialists and leadership to develop high quality medical narratives documenting the diagnosis, course of treatment, clinical outcomes, and other facets of care for oncology patients utilizing Employer Strategy services template and methodologies.
Pref. Certification/Licensure: Oncology or Hematology nurse certification
Provides documents in compliance with Employer Strategy standard formats and documentation standards.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews patient records and Nurse’s notes to create patient narratives, identifying on going symptoms and timelines of treatment.
- Creates treatment plan framework for Physician approval based on identified symptoms reviewed by utilizing current medical oncology knowledge and industry and COH standards.
- Collaborates with teammates in the overall management of the Employer Strategy on-line library to ensure that information is current and easily accessible to staff.
- Partners with internal and external sources to request and gather medical records, lab reports, and other pertinent patient records for review. Ensures the accurate designation of records to the right patient and timelines documented.
- Provides a treatment regimen recommendation in sequential order for cancer treatment of individual patients through research and case manages patient files.
- Assists Operations Leader in monitoring adherence to legal and administrative protocol with regard to patient confidentiality and industry confidentiality.
- Follows established NewCo and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
- Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience: Five years of clinical oncology nursing experience, including one year of experience writing medical narratives or as a case manager
Req. Certification/Licensure: Current CA Registered Nurse licensePref. Certification/Licensure: Oncology or Hematology nurse certification
Preferred Experience: Masters in Nursing
