Overview:
The Clinical Informaticist (CI) has expert knowledge of Clinical operations and workflow and advanced knowledge of the Cerner Powerchart module is preferred. The CI applies best practices to the management of the clinical information system life cycle and facilitates strategic clinical information technology direction to support excellence in patient care; clinical process evaluation and transformation.
Key responsibilities include direct involvement with the implementation, education and support of the electronic health record. This position requires a detailed knowledge of the electronic health record and the ability to analyze processes/systems as they impact the organizations’ strategic initiatives and patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provides expert guidance to EHR teams on system optimization, change management, standardized processes and workflows for a successful post implementation operation.
- Applies knowledge of Computer Science, Information Science, Clinical Specialty, and Informatics theory to Clinical practice, Education, Administration or Research in collaboration with other Analysts and Informaticists.
- Serves as an expert resource and SME for Clinical Nursing areas with regard to EHR features and functions.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards as they apply to departmental systems.
- Provides mentoring and training to the junior members of the team in system analysis & design, specification development and documentation, and end user training with ULH prescribed methodologies.
- Adheres to all Security Standards as set forth by the organization and National guidelines.
- Additional tasks/responsibilities as defined.
Qualifications:
Certifications: NoneEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent clinical degree and experience required.
Experience: 5 years’ experience in a clinical setting including 2 years of Nursing specific experience. 3+ years of prior Cerner Clinical applications experience or other EHR implementation and/or support experience preferred. Extensive understanding of clinical operations and workflows within a healthcare system is required.Must exhibit advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to observe, analyze and interpret general, technical and clinical data (verbal and written). Knowledge of organization Clinical Nursing workflow and methodologies. Cerner Powerchart knowledge preferred. Must possess professional manner and appearance with ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities while under pressure.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization system-wide.
