Overview:
The Carrier Clinic House Officer, Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner coordinates and administers psychiatric and medical care to all patients and residents of Carrier Clinic. Conforms to performance improvement standards of patient care as established through Carrier Policies and Procedures.Provides professional representation of Carrier to other health professionals, community agencies, and the lay public. Schedule will be 12 hours daytime Sat & Sun 8am-8pm. Must have Minimum of 1 year in psychiatry prescribing medication as a PA/NP.
Responsibilities:
- Provides psychiatric and medical treatment to walk-ins, patients, residents, staff and employees in the Facilities, as requested. 2. Follows all EMTALA regulations and the Facilities' requirements concerning EMTALA. 3. Completes admission evaluation, assessment of strength and assets, mental health status and diagnosis. 4. Completes treatment planning including medication orders, status, laboratory tests, diets, etc. in collaboration with the treatment team. 6. Completes all documentation/orders as required with timeliness and quality including delinquencies and incident reporting. 7. Reviews all laboratory results and documents timely. 8. Responds to Utilization Management documentation requests efficiently and timely. 9. Consults/liaison with Nursing Supervisors, as needed. 10. Responds to nursing requests as needed. 11. Daily responsibility of assigned patient caseload. 12. Assures that Medical Clearances are completed in a timely manner. 13. Adheres to performance improvement protocols including clinical pathways. 14. Coordinates with Carrier's Chief Medical Officer to oversee and improve clinical services provided at the Facilities. 15. Documentation of unusual incidents. 16. Progress note documentation for patients requiring special monitoring, e.g., suicide precautions, seclusion or restraints. 17. Returns all patient and family phone calls on a timely basis. 18. Referral and managed care contacts as needed. 19. Required to be available throughout the shift at all times and respond to calls/pages. 20. Adheres to timekeeping and payroll policies. Reliable and on time to all scheduled coverage. 21. Required to be at key Medical Staff Meetings at the request of the Chief Medical Officer. 22. Acts as Facility representative to the general public presenting for services. 23. Interacts well with patients, visitors and Facility staff, responding promptly to inquiries with tact and sensitivity. Demonstrates a courteous, cooperative, pleasant and positive attitude, maintaining strict standards of confidentiality. 24. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 25. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Graduate of an approved APN or PA Program
NJ NP or PA license requiredInteracts well with patients,visitors and Facility staff, responding promptly to inquiries with tact and sensitivity
Demonstrates a courteous, cooperative,pleasant and positive attitude
Maintains strict standards of confidentiality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
APN License
Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification or Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Certification
AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employment
Psychiatry experience prescribing meds for at least 1 year required.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. 2. Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education 3. Minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatry.4. Minimum of 1 year in psychiatry prescribing medication. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 6. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1.
Training and experience with patients across the lifespan. 2. Training and experience with patients with substance abuse disorders. 3. Training and experience with the EPIC (Electronic Healthcare Record (EMR)) system. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. Active, unrestricted medical license as a Physician Assistant in New Jersey.
2. Active, unrestricted Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) license. 3. Active, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license. Licenses and Certifications Preferred: 1. Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry.
