Lead Network Engineer - Hartford

We are inviting applications for the position of a Lead Network Engineer, to be based in Hartford County, Connecticut. This role involves overseeing enterprise network infrastructure design, implementation, and support. The selected candidate will lead a team of network engineers and collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to optimize network systems.

This role is integral to our operations and the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of our network systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Oversee the performance monitoring and system optimization of network systems.
  • Conduct compliance audits and manage network resources.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and negotiate contracts with vendors.
  • Provide third level networking support and on-call support if applicable.
  • Develop solutions for complex network problems and manage system administration for infrastructure components including data centers.
  • Oversee firmware, hardware, and OS upgrades along with patch management.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans and conduct network redundancy testing.
  • Monitor network performance and perform tuning adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain backups and conduct capacity planning.
Skills needed for this role include strong technical and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, negotiation, and project management. The ability to plan, implement, and monitor network designs for business applications is also required, along with capacity planning, performance reporting, application design, and technical planning.
• Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a closely related role.
  • Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is a must.
  • Experience with Cisco ASA, Cisco Nexus, Cisco Routers, and other Cisco Technologies is required.
  • Familiarity with AB Testing is essential.
  • Must have a solid understanding of Computer Hardware and Configuration Management.
  • Experience with Connectivity, OSPF, and Network Routing is necessary.
  • Knowledge of NetFlow, Firmware upgrades, and OS Upgrades is expected.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Relevant detail oriented certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE are highly desirable.
  • Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and best practices is a plus.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving network issues efficiently is required.
  • Must be willing to stay updated with the latest developments in network technologies and trends.
