The OHSU Center for Learner Diversity and Inclusion (CLDI) reports to the OHSU Office of the Provost, within the academic mission. The CLDI strives to be a campus leader and asset in creating, sustaining, and supporting a campus community that prioritizes and promotes inclusive excellence.

The CLDI’s mission is to serve as an institutional access point for resources, support, and expertise that enhances diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging at OHSU. The CLDI’s work centers students and the student experience, and the team is committed to cultivating relationships across campus, creating educational solutions, and serving as a catalyst to interrogate policies, practices, and procedures with a goal of building institutional capacity for transformative change.

This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost for the Center for Learner Diversity and Inclusion. The Program Manager (PM) for Learner Diversity Education and Engagement (PM for LDEE) serves as an institution wide resource to support the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) focused education and engagement of the learner community at OHSU.

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of educational and engagement programs and initiatives for OHSU learners that support OHSU diversity education and engagement strategies and goals. The position is responsible for managing a team focused on the management and support of existing and emergent programmatic efforts and initiatives designed to support OHSU learners.

The PM for LDEE works collaboratively with learners, faculty, and staff from across campus to sustain an inclusive academic environment by supporting the personal and professional development of learners from historically marginalized populations and by leading initiatives that increase cultural competency and DEIB awareness within OHSU.

Function/Duties of Position:

Learner DEIB Educational Programming and Initiatives
  • Develop and lead initiatives aimed at increasing DEIB awareness and education for OHSU learners. This includes, but is not limited to, workshops, speaker series, and discussion groups.
  • Implement and support learner facing DEIB programs. This includes, but is not limited, to orientation sessions, trainings, and other development sessions.
  • Work to build progressive curricula and content and create specialized identity-based, concept-based, and skill-building educational initiatives and offerings (i.e., systems of oppression, power/privilege, intersectionality, implicit bias, social identities, allyship, etc.) for learners.
  • Function as a consultant and resource with the OHSU community to support the overall growth and development of DEIB training and educational opportunities for learners (and departments/staff as capacity permits).
Learner DEIB Engagement Programming and Initiatives
  • Seve as primary point of contact and liaison for CLDI affiliated Student Interest Groups (SIGs).
  • Collaborate with CLDI sponsored SIGs and other campus wide affinity groups and offices to support DEIB related events and activities.
  • Develop and facilitate structured engagement opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to, community lunches/connection events, Heritage Month programs, and outreach events.
  • Work to develop and facilitate learner community building processes that leverage methods including, but not limited to, restorative justice and intergroup dialogue.
Administrative Duties
  • Serve on CLDI Leadership Team
  • Initiate short-term and long-range planning efforts, in collaboration with Associate Vice Provost of CLDI
  • Monitor and manage financial resources allocated to support LDEE initiatives.
  • Conduct assessment and evaluation of LDEE programs and initiatives to monitor effectiveness in meeting identified needs of Learners and the campus community.
  • Keep current on national, regional, and local trends and scholarship related to area of professional focus.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor assigned FTE.
Campus and Community Relations
  • Respond to requests and ideas from Learners, SIGs, and other campus constituents as a part of supporting CLDI’s continued recognition as a campus leader and supporter of DEIB.
  • Facilitate and sustain collaborative partnerships and coalitions with various campus constituents and entities to advance DEIB across campus.
  • Build relationships with all Student Affairs leaders to strengthen network of support for all learners.
Center for Learner Diversity and Inclusion generalist duties
  • Assume responsibility for emerging areas of need as identified by Associate Vice Provost of CLDI.
  • Contribute to the overall goals of CLDI and service to students as an active participant in all staff meetings and similar activities.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees, coalitions, task forces, and other ad-hoc assignments as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of experience working with students, including in a training and development capacity.
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully work in partnership in an academic or healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with student and program development.
  • Experience working with a variety of diverse communities or populations (disability, historically marginalized, first generation, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the prevailing and emerging trends in higher education.
  • Knowledge and application of evidence-based practices and theoretical models of DEIB programming and training.
  • Ability to undertake multiple priorities concurrently, ability to self-prioritize, and to consistently meet due dates and timelines.
  • Ability in communication and influencing skills, and relationship building/management skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to facilitate groups and group process.
  • Strong stand-up presentation/training skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with faculty and faculty candidates through the recruitment process.
  • Professionalism and customer service disposition.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-centered work environment and provide expert support to internal groups in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge of personal software packages to prepare correspondence, as well as create and generate spreadsheets and reports, as described above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in higher education, counseling, ethnic studies, sociology, or other related field.
  • Experience working with diverse students in a university setting.
  • Experience with supervision of professional staff.

Additional Details:

  • May require occasional travel to and from OHSU regional campuses or other locations as needed.
  • Some attendance at regional, location, and national events for job related reasons and professional development opportunities.
  • Some evening and weekend work as determined in advance and in conjunction with Associate Vice Provost for CLDI.
  • On campus work environment may include some noise level and interruptions due to learner activity.
