Overview:

The Senior Supply Chain Manager reports to the Horse Cave Sr. Operations Director and serves as a key member of the Plant Leadership Team. The Horse Cave facility serves as both a large-scale manufacturing plant and a regional distribution center.
At Horse Cave, the Senior Supply Chain Manager leads approximately 150 Team Members. The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain processes. This includes procurement, production planning, inbound receiving, warehouse operations and finished goods delivery to customers.

This role is crucial for ensuring customer service, quality, and the cost-effectiveness of Marzetti’s flagship operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a direct team of 12 to 18 supply chain professionals by Building the Business, Executing with Purpose, Nourishing the Organization and Others and Nourishing Personal Growth.
  • Maintains the highest level of Safety and ensures compliance to all OSHA and company standards.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy/ accountability and provides best in class standards for inventory management.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage the sourcing and procurement of raw materials, packaging, and services. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply of high quality, cost-effective materials.
  • Oversee the production planning process to optimize service, drive operational efficiencies and maximize finished goods inventory turns.
  • Conduct analysis of aging material inventory across materials and packaging, identifying obsolete, slow-moving, and excess stock.
  • Evaluate stocking levels for materials and packaging, implementing and managing stocking strategies
  • Participate in new product and product discontinuations, directing plants on setting up master data and removal of discontinued resources.
  • Plan and receive shipments of inbound raw materials and packaging.
  • Schedule and receive finished goods from other Marzetti plants.
  • Oversee the warehouse operation through a high performing team that works safely, drives productivity, inventory accuracy and service.
  • Plan transportation with carriers to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in the development of the Financial Annual Operating Plan.
  • Track key performance indicators and manage processes to address deviations from target.
  • Optimize supply chain processes through Marzetti Operational Excellence and workflows for efficiency and cost savings.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline supply chain processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance team performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align supply chain activities with overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, business administration, or a related field (MBA preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in supply chain management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Experience should be in areas such as procurement, planning, logistics, production operations, and warehouse management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and develop direct reports.
  • Technical proficiency in supply chain software (SAP preferred) and ERP systems. Familiarity with data analytics and visualization techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, with a high level of expertise with Excel.
