Overview:
The unit secretary / monitor technician through communication, requisitioning and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. He/she performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.Is skilled in reading and interpreting cardiac monitors and arrhythmias.
Responsibilities:
Customer service
Uses computer to enter orders
Medication orders
Accurately transcribes M.D. orders according to hospital policy and procedures
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent
EKG Monitor Tech Certificate required
BLS required
AB 508 required after 90 days of hire
Medical terminology
General clerical and computer knowledge
Monitor Technician experience in acute setting preferred
