Maintenance Supervisor (1st Shift)

Overview:

As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will supervise the Maintenance Department in the Madison Manufacturing facility and also be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment in support of business goals and objectives

Responsibilities:

  • Direct, prioritize, and expedite repairs to keep downtime at a minimum; diagnose malfunctions and determine nature and extent of repairs. Monitor, evaluate, and actively work to improve response time to down equipment.
  • Organize and maintain an up to date, cost-effective inventory of repair/replacement parts to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Lead Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) to manage project work, spending, resource allocation, preventive, predictive, and unplanned maintenance activities. Experience with Fluke eMaint CMMS considered a plus.
  • Coordinate discussions with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations personnel on major situations to recommend and assist in determining importance/prioritization (e.g., taking machines/equipment out of production for extensive repair, overhaul, or rebuild)
  • Assist Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to plan for and supervise the preliminary installation operations, movement, and landing of new machines/equipment or for plant layout rearrangement.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, and supervision over machining, fabrication, and machine rebuild activities.
  • Assist in developing and updating preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Assist in developing early equipment maintenance evaluation.
  • Own execution and improvement of maintenance KPIs/metrics such as equipment availability, equipment uptime, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), PM compliance, maintenance labor cost, spare parts cost, and inventory metrics.
  • Lead LOTO program and assist Safety/Manufacturing Engineering with updating LOTO standards.
  • Own the Preventive Maintenance Program by implementing a proactive maintenance strategy. Plan, schedule, and execute maintenance activities to prevent equipment failures by ensuring regular PM’s, servicing equipment, and replacing parts at scheduled intervals are completed. Analyze equipment performance data to refine strategies and improve overall system reliability. Complete risk assessments that identify and mitigate potential long and short terms risks. Coordinate resources for all Preventative and Predictive Maintenance schedules and audit the merit and completion of the PM tasks to ensure program is successful.
  • Source, negotiate contracts with, and manage outside contractors to support the equipment and facilities. Investigate alternative contractors to reduce costs.
  • Work with Safety Department to ensure facility regulatory and environmental compliance. Work with local, state, and governmental agencies and coordinate required inspections, permits and certifications are completed.
  • Assist management with future maintenance operating budgets for equipment and facilities; audit current budget spend, develop actions as necessary to stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Participate in and coordinate Company programs (e.g., communications, job training, vacation schedules, job evaluation, employee appraisal, wage administration, discipline, cost reduction, housekeeping, safety, labor relations, grievances, quarterly merit bonus program, etc.)
  • Ensure the use of PPE, safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping, and remain alert for hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Maintain an adequate and efficient work force in accordance with skill requirements, work levels and schedules, and training programs.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing/resolving problems.
  • Maintain a strong and regular presence on the shop floor to drive engagement, foster communication, and ensure resources actively working top priorities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years experience in industrial maintenance required, to include time as a Journeyman Machine Repair Person to become thoroughly familiar with machines, mechanical principles and operations, repair techniques and methods to qualify technically for supervisory responsibilities.
  • Three years of actual experience in a supervisory capacity is required for the management of the human resources associated with the maintenance function.
  • Previous experience or background in computerized maintenance programs is desirable to set up and maintain such a program.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical/electronic process controls is essential.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, PLC& HMI programing and troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, LOTO procedures, and metal fabrication and ability to trouble shoot and maintain these processes.
  • Ability to fulfill management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work in a team-centered atmosphere and select and train new employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work jointly across departments is required.
