Project Manager, Human Factors Engineering
Job Summary:
Aptive seeks a Project Manager, Human Factors Engineering to support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). In this role, the Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) efforts to improve Socio-Technical Systems and clinician-machine interfaces at the point of care through HFE studies.This position demands expertise in applying state-of-the-art findings and methods to assess products and processes, ensuring optimal usability and performance for all end users.

Primary Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities- Project Management: Manage a large program with multiple concurrent workstreams, multiple subcontractors, and focuses on a number of complex initiatives that address, implement and apply HFE principles to throughout the entire continuum of care. Facilitate meetings with clients to solicit feedback, document performance, identify focus areas for enhancement or improvement, and define support needs. Develop and maintain work plans, task trackers, work breakdown structures, executive briefings, standard operating procedures and other project management/delivery artifacts. Evaluate team utilization and assign tasks among team members.
- HFE Study Management: Manage and direct multiple simultaneous HFE studies/projects, working closely with client stakeholders to ensure successful delivery, contractual compliance and contract stability.
- Quality Management: Conduct quality assurance monitoring and deliverable reviews to help ensure conformance to defined project requirements and maintain team accountability.
- Contract Management: Coordinate with project staff, subcontractors, Aptive leadership,
delivery. Build and foster relationships with federal partners and internal team members.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate human factor issues to engineering teams and end users, both formally and informally, fostering collaboration and understanding across all stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications- Masters Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in human factors engineering or a closely related field.
- Deep understanding of human factors engineering principles, research methodologies, and usability standards.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex human factor concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience with SAFe's Lean Agile principles and practices, with a demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and foster operational excellence through Agile methodologies.
Desired Qualifications:
Desired Qualifications- PMP certification, SAFe certification, and/or Scrum Master certification
- Experience supporting the VA or VHA highly desired
