We are currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

The US base salary for this full-time position is $32-35/hr + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities:

Medical Laboratory Technician will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

Performs routine tests and laboratory procedures in a medical laboratory which are used to diagnose and treat diseases.
  • Design and construct optical systems for microscopy, along with necessary hardware, control systems and software for the use of the systems
  • Collaborate with staff on projects to understand the way information is represented by neuronal activity in the brain Develop software, model code and analysis code, including code, intermediate outputs and final output figures
Reports laboratory results to medical personnel or principal investigator.
  • Interface with group members with expertise in optogenetics and neurophysiology in order to facilitate the completion of the experiments
  • Work with staff to conceptualize, design, execute, analyze and present experiments
Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, tools and supplies.
  • Analyze, tabulate and prepare data for presentation at scientific meetings and for publication in peer-reviewed literature
Assist laboratory managers comply with all institute, department and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Research other clinical and research regulatory requirements and recommend updates to clinic processes and procedures
  • Attend laboratory meetings; make presentations based on results and findings
  • Train summer and post-bac students in relevant tasks

  • Daily Work products and documents related to conceptualizing, designing, executing, analyzing and presenting experiments; developing software, model code and analysis code, including code, intermediate outputs and final output figures.
  • Daily Work products and documents related to performing experiments to understand brain function using constructed optical systems; developing analyses to determine the representation of sensory information; understanding the way information is represented by neuronal activity in the brain.
  • Daily Work products and documents related to designing and constructing optical systems for microscopy, along with the necessary hardware, control systems and software for the use of the systems.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduated from MLT program and passing a board exam for the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
  • Must be a registered polysomnographer technologist.
  • Field of Study - Medical Technologies Technicians.
  • Computer skills to include MS Office Suite.
  • Skills - Medical laboratory experience.
