Overview:
Under the direction of the Sports Director, the Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator enthusiastically represents the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County, while displaying a positive attitude, delivering relevant programs & activities and excellent service to all within a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, member-centric environment.YMCA Family and Youth Memberships and Programs are the core of the YMCA; therefore, the position will serve as the conduit for services and functions to engage those members and program participants within the policies and guidelines of the YMCA.
The Youth and Family Program Coordinator will plan and execute youth and family programs, special events and birthday parties which are of interest to and meet the needs of the communities served by the YMCA Association. This position is located at the Red Bank Family YMCA.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, operation (direct service), evaluation, growth, and oversight of programs which enhance the experience of young children and their families. These programs are to be offered throughout the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County branches, including but not limited to Kids Club, birthday parties, sports & enrichment classes, school’s out and summer camps, and special events.
- Efficiently coordinate multiple programs simultaneously, while planning for the next, and collaboratively manage program budgets, trackers, equipment, and inventory.
- Responsible for leading summer day camp.
- Provide leadership in the planning and implementation of Healthy Kids Day and other community and organizational events.
- At the direction of the Branch Executive Director, attend community meetings and field marketing and promotional events.
- Expand youth and family programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develop philanthropic relationships with members & program users and educate toward our mission.
- Visually inspect work areas and equipment for safety and risk; problem solve and report any unsafe or suspicious activity to supervisor or Director on Duty.
- Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports as necessary.
- Embrace and adhere to service excellence standards; provide outstanding service to your customers and constituents.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse risk management training. Follow mandated abuse reporting procedures, including reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Ensure safety standards are met and training standards are kept in compliance for all department staff members.
- Represent the YMCA in a professional manner and promote a positive and cheerful environment.
- Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and continuing job training.
- Operate flexibly within a non-traditional work week that may vary by season according to program and organizational needs.
- Be able to complete payroll on time each week via desktop and the ADP Mobile application on your personal phone.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Sports Director or Branch Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma. Associate degree in Family and Youth Work or related area preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one year experience in customer service and/or sales preferred.
- Minimum of one to three years of experience in developing and delivering youth programs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills exhibiting sensitivity, adaptability, professionalism, and articulation when dealing with others.
- Must have effective conflict resolution skills.
- Very organized, detail oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs.
- Prior knowledge of Daxko and CampDoc platforms a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize appropriately.
- Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations within the policies and guidelines of the YMCA and in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and making sound decisions within the guidelines of the YMCA.
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of members and guests in a professional manner, displaying tact and diplomacy when needed.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work enthusiastically within constantly changing priorities.
