Job Description

The State & Local Tax Director will:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive state and local tax compliance strategies to ensure adherence to regulations and timely filings.
  • Provide strategic tax planning advice to optimize tax positions across various jurisdictions.
  • Analyze tax implications of business decisions and transactions, working closely with investment teams to align strategies.
  • Stay abreast of state and local tax law changes, assessing their impact on the organization and advising senior management accordingly.
  • Lead audits and respond to inquiries from state tax authorities, managing relationships with external advisors and auditors.
  • Mentor and develop tax team members, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Communicate complex state and local tax concepts clearly to diverse audiences, ensuring transparency and understanding.

The Successful Applicant

The State & Local Tax Director will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in state and local tax compliance and planning, ideally within asset management or financial services.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, building strong relationships across teams.
