A Mechanical Engineering Professional Senior is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Cary, NC (hybrid) area. A Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for leading and mentoring teams, engaging clients, driving business development, and delivering innovative engineering design and consulting solutions in the energy sector with a focus on decarbonization and sustainability.

responsibilities:

  • Mentor and/or manage junior and mid-level mechanical engineers.
  • Engage with clients to evaluate energy needs, develop concept-level plans, and provide engineering design solutions.
  • Lead mechanical engineering teams to deliver advisory services and solutions across various market sectors.
  • Participate in strategy formation, business development, and sales to expand the energy transition portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Client Account Managers and sales teams on strategic pursuits.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of mechanical and process engineering disciplines.
  • Engage in consulting, design, design management, project management, and Owner's Engineer or contract management roles.

Skills:

  • Experience with thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam, hot water, chilled water).
  • Expertise in utility master planning or decarbonization/climate response planning.
  • Knowledge of cogeneration or combined heat and power systems.
  • Experience with heat pumps and heat recovery chillers.
  • Prior experience in personnel management.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of engineering design and/or consulting experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure (any US state).
