How you’ll make an impact:
SiriusXM is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Licensing to lead all partnership and business development efforts across the company. This role will play a critical part in shaping the future of SiriusXM's growth and innovation by driving strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and business development opportunities that enhance our subscription and distribution ecosystem.
As a senior leader reporting to the EVP and COO, this individual will oversee a dynamic team of senior executives and manage key relationships with music, entertainment, Telco, Satellite, and distribution partners. The role requires a proven track record of negotiating large-scale product and commercial partnerships and a deep understanding of the subscription business model.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive partnerships and licensing strategy aligned with SiriusXM’s long-term growth objectives.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of SVPs responsible for partnerships, licensing, and business development.
- Represent SiriusXM at the highest levels of negotiation with external partners, including music labels, publishers, tech platforms, and distribution channels.
Partnership Development:
- Identify, negotiate, and secure large-scale product and commercial partnerships that drive subscriber acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
- Cultivate relationships with strategic partners in the music, entertainment, and technology sectors.
- Develop innovative models for collaboration that unlock new value for SiriusXM and its partners.
- Align with the Satcomm team on Satellite based strategic initiatives.
Licensing and Distribution:
- Oversee all licensing agreements with content creators, music labels, publishers, and other IP holders.
- Negotiate and manage complex distribution deals to expand SiriusXM’s presence across platforms and devices.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while optimizing deal terms.
Market Insight and Innovation:
- Stay ahead of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity to inform partnership strategies.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Technology teams to ensure alignment and execution of partnership initiatives.
- Identify new opportunities for monetization and audience engagement through partnerships.
Operational Excellence:
- Drive accountability and results within the partnerships team, ensuring seamless execution of agreements and alignment with SiriusXM’s goals.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of partnership initiatives and report on performance to executive leadership.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree. JD or MBA preferred; a combination of legal and business acumen is highly desirable.
- 20+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or licensing, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven success in negotiating large-scale product and commercial partnerships within the music, entertainment, or technology sectors.
- Familiarity with subscription-based business models and experience with distribution deals.
- Deep understanding of the music and entertainment landscape, including licensing and intellectual property frameworks.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to execute operationally.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
