IFC's Communications and Outreach Department is responsible for managing IFC's communications and outreach strategy with a focus on the Corporation's business priorities, including cross cutting themes. The Corporate Communications team is responsible for communicating the organization's message and priorities with both internal and external audiences, with the goal of maximizing IFC's reach and impact, aligning messages, and strategically targeting key audiences.
We are seeking an Engagement Communications Analyst, Events, reporting to the Head of Engagement.
Role Overview:
IFC's Corporate Communications unit is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Analyst to join our Engagement Team. This role is critical in supporting and delivering external-facing industry and corporate events, driving stakeholder engagement, and strengthening IFC's presence and influence.The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supporting high-profile events and be based in Washington, DC.
- Event Management: Under the direction of the Head of Engagement, and as part of the broader Events team, support, plan, and execute logistics for external-facing industry and corporate events, including conferences, seminars, and forums. Coordinate budget management, procurement, and vendor coordination.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful event execution and alignment with IFC's strategic objectives.
- Marketing and Promotion: Work seamlessly with digital colleagues in the Engagement team to develop and implement marketing strategies to promote events, including the creation of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, invitations, and digital content.
- Vendor and Service Coordination: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal service providers (IT, AV, Facilities) and external vendors to ensure seamless event execution.
- Metrics and Reporting: Produce event metric reports to evaluate the success and impact of events, providing insights and recommendations for future improvements.
- Thought Leadership: Support the promotion of IFC's thought leadership through strategic event planning and execution.
- Additional Support: Assist the Engagement Team with other communications initiatives as needed, including managing external communications channels and content.
- Actively advancing the integrated approach to communications across the World Bank Group, working seamlessly with colleagues in MIGA and World Bank communications teams.
- Coordinate with internal staff, clients, vendors, and others to establish needs for events, and serve as liaison to senior management, and industry leaders throughout the planning process.
- Research resources, make site visits, and lead pre-event meetings when necessary to help the event's core team staff make decisions about event design.
- Plan and facilitate logistics for all events, including contract negotiations, invitee lists, venue preparation, presentation materials, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, decor, and marketing materials.
- Oversee client experiences from conception through post-event, managing on-site preparations, production, and event breakdown, ensuring consistent, high-level service throughout all phases.
- Maintain and build a comprehensive database of industry contacts, vendors, and venues.
- Troubleshoot and handle any issues that arise on the event day.
- Compile and organize event content, including speaker's bios, photos, and other event requirements.
- Design/help maintain events' websites in Cvent by uploading content and updating existing content, including speakers' images, bios, event logistics, images, videos, and other information.
- Support the strategic promotion of the event on social media and other platforms.
- A Master's degree with 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant industry or communications experience (in fields such as Communications or Project/Events Management).
- Proven success as an event planner or coordinator.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in maintaining and building enriching business relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to handle pressure and make split-second decisions.
- Experience in producing and managing virtual events.
- Self-starter and ability to meet tight deadlines.
