Job Summary:

  • The Manager, Accounts Receivable is primarily responsible for overseeing and supporting the AR department that manages accounts and communicates with insurance companies. This individual will work closely with the Director/VP of Revenue Cycle Management in overseeing operational processes, personnel, and administrative functions to provide superior AR management services. This position ensures client satisfaction by executing the strategic business plan while leading the team

Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • In partnership with Human Resources, ensures appropriate staffing levels and balance of workload for the AR Team, coaches and counsels employees, and delivers disciplinary action/PIP for the AR team
  • Responsible for consistent and ongoing training of the AR team. Conducts regular meetings with the team and provides suggestions for improvement and decision support
  • Plans, monitors, appraises and reviews staff job contributions. Implements cross-functional training and succession planning as allowable
  • Performs routine audits and holds monthly/quarterly one-on-one reviews with team members
  • Holds monthly meetings (or as warranted) meetings with all levels of management to review revenue cycle data and address concerns
  • Troubleshoots enhance and standardizes innovative solutions and workflow processes through the revenue cycle to assist in achieving consistency and success. Manages, analyzes, and makes recommendations on process effectiveness
  • Drives standardization of AR processes through proper documentation, distribution, and communication
  • Reports major issues and potential threats/opportunities to Ventra Health leadership
  • Serves as a resource of knowledge and guidance
  • Monitors timeliness and effectiveness of department activities
  • Protects and safeguards company and patient information and reports suspicious activity to management
  • Ensures timely month-end close for all assigned clients
  • Partners with shared services to ensure proper management of client processes to include timely processing charge/payment/adjustment batches
  • Supports implementation of follow-up processes with offshore resources
  • Timely communicates AR performance and payer issues/trends to Director/VP of Revenue Cycle Management
  • Supports a positive workplace culture to attract and retain revenue cycle talent
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience
  • At least four to five (4 -5) years of accounts receivable experience and two (2) years of management/supervisory experience are preferred. Physician billing, hospital billing, or vendor management experience in revenue cycle functions is preferred
  • AAHAM and/or HFMA certification preferred
  • Experience with offshore engagement and collaboration desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounts receivable processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to identify trends and provide resolution to front-end issues
  • Proven strong leadership/management skills to manage, motivate, and set expectations with team members
  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills, including financial reporting and healthcare analytics, and response to questions from groups of executives and managers
  • Strong financial reporting and healthcare data analysis skills
  • Strong management level oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, database, and presentation software skills
  • Ability to train and coach employees
  • Ability to read, understand and apply state/federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner
  • Ability to remain flexible and work within a collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Proficient use of a computer, telephone, internet, copier, fax, and scanner
  • Become proficient in billing software in a timely manner and maintain proficiency
  • Basic touch 10 key skills
  • Strong Math skills
  • Understand and comply with company policies and procedures
