Tax Directors are responsible for (but not limited to):
Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations at all levels of complexity
Ensuring all federal and state income tax returns are prepared timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws
Delegates and manages tax research projects to achieve an accurate and efficient product
Participates actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Business Assurance Department with larger clients
Acts as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and Business Assurance Staff on specific tax issues and/or questions
Assumes client service responsibility for clients working directly with the clients when the responsibility is delegated from the Partner
Communicates to the appropriate firm personnel important tax and tax developments affecting the firms clients
Supervises tax team and provides on the job training
Assists the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients when deemed necessary
Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes:
Current CPA license is required
8 years experience in public accounting, demonstrating proven progression in tax return complexity, scope and research
At least 2 (two) years representing clients before taxing authorities
Minimum of 1 (one) year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers
Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent accounting hours required. Masters degree in Taxation preferred
Minimum 40 hours of continuing education is required yearly
Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs
Proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation / workflow software is a plus preferred
