Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Adabas Linux Database and Server Administrator (DBSA) to support a "Lift and Shift" project involving the migration of a legacy on-premises mainframe application to the AWS Cloud. This role requires close collaboration with development teams, serving as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and cloud rehosting vendors.
The DBSA will play a pivotal role in supporting the cloud rehosting project, addressing maintenance enhancements, and resolving defects on the cloud platform to meet business requirements. This effort will enable the rehosting of a Natural/Adabas mainframe system in the AWS cloud as part of a strategic modernization initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and lead data governance meetings to ensure alignment with data management standards.
- Generate functional and technical documentation, including detailed specifications for database fields, mappings to code, and application screen integrations.
- Manage data cataloging efforts using tools such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) or Alation to enhance data quality and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain data-sharing agreements in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Standardize common data elements (CDE) across multiple systems to improve consistency and accuracy.
- Define and implement database field elements, ensuring scalability and proper mappings to applications and backend systems.
- Develop data mapping strategies to ensure seamless data integration and a streamlined user experience.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to apply data governance principles and best practices.
- Provide training to business users on data governance policies and tools, ensuring understanding and compliance.
- Monitor and evaluate data practices continuously, identifying areas for improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in data management, such as DAMA DMBOK or CDMP.
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools (e.g., Informatica Axon, Informatica EDC, Collibra, Alation).
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- At least five (5) years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
- Strong facilitation skills with experience in leading meetings and workshops.
- Expertise in data catalog tools and familiarity with data protection laws and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to collaborate in team environments and manage multiple priorities effectively.
