ButterflyMX is hiring a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for our financial close process, ensuring the accurate delivery of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
This individual will have strong technical accounting skills, but also operational, as they help to scale the Accounting Department. The Senior Accountant will require routine interaction with other departments to ensure relevant financial and accounting information is captured.

Furthermore, the desired candidate will help build and enhance an internal control environment and ensure compliance with accounting policies and SOX regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Alongside the Accounting Manager, manage month-end close: streamline processes, identify inefficiencies, review journal entries and account reconciliations, and enhance quality of documentation
  • Maintain the financial records of the Company in accordance with GAAP
  • Work with Accounting Manager in establishing and implementing internal controls and accounting policies
  • Maintain and reconcile all GL accounts including bank accounts
  • Maintain monthly fixed asset schedules including the calculation and the record of depreciation expenses
  • Research US GAAP technical accounting topics as needed
  • Research and analyze variances and unusual transactions as identified
  • Assist in annual financial statement audit preparation activities
  • Manage revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
  • Oversee the recording of expenses, accrued expenses, and prepaid expenses
  • Maintain Inventory calculations and Deferred COGS schedules
  • Manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ad Hoc projects/tasks as requested by management
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA - preferred
  • 3-5 years in industry and/or public accounting or similar work environment, preferably in SaaS
  • Big 4 public accounting experience - preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload in order to achieve objectives under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and work well with people at a wide range of levels
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, gain consensus among various teams and drive initiatives to completion effectively
  • Experience with Sage Intacct - preferred
