Purchasing Manager

Reports To: Vice President of Supply Chain

As we grow, we are seeking a talented and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team and lead our procurement initiatives.

The Purchasing Director will work closely with the VP of Supply Chain, the Operations Team, and cross-functional teams to align purchasing strategies with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Sourcing:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure high-quality materials at optimal cost.
• Identify and evaluate new suppliers to ensure alignment with company standards for quality, sustainability, and reliability.
• Supplier Management:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to achieve favorable pricing and service levels.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
• Cost Management:
• Manage purchasing budgets and drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
• Analyze market trends and pricing to forecast and mitigate cost fluctuations.
• Operational Efficiency:
• Ensure timely procurement of materials to support uninterrupted production.
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to align inventory levels with production schedules.
• Compliance and Documentation:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including organic certification requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier evaluations.
• Team Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Set clear performance goals and regularly assess team performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in the food manufacturing industry, preferably with a focus on organic and sustainable products.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supplier management.
• Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Cohoes, NY.
