Description:
Tuvli, an Akima company, is hiring for an Administrative Assistant III/Courier to support our DoS client located in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct two runs each day between the State Department and the Congressional Office Buildings at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. When not conducting runs, both Couriers will assist the L-H/EX Support Services Team on routine work duties.
- Operate government provided vehicles
- Daily delivery of State Department correspondence to appropriate Congressional Office Buildings and the pick-up and return to State of any Congressional correspondence
- Knowledge of all House and Senate office spaces, and related access and parking issues
- Ability to plan routes sensitive to office schedules taking into account a variety of complicated transportation issues including Hill events or holidays that may limit building access
- Ability to plan, organize, and keep management informed when complications arise that may affect normally scheduled deliveries
- Pick-up deliveries from the State Department’s loading dock and mail room
- Pick-up and/or deliver items to SA-17, HST, or any other State Annex in the National Capitol Region (NCR)
- Serves as back-up and provides assistance to L-H/EX Support Services in the performance of some routine duties
- Ability to plan and execute work in an effort to meet various deadlines
- Ensures that the needs and interests of the various offices in L and H are addressed in a timely manner
- Maintains and organizes L, H and L-H/EX office spaces to include supply areas, cabinet spaces, strong room, and printing rooms
- Distributes daily newspaper and magazine subscriptions as well as other materials as needed
- Couriers will be assigned to work one of two 8 hour shifts. The “early” shift will begin at 8:15 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. The “late” shift will begin at 9:15 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m.
- May require overtime to be completed when work requirements extend beyond the normal 40 hours per week. All overtime will be pre-approved by Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, or Management Services Division Chief with a request from the Government Manager to the COR for final approval. Funds must be available for Overtime to be approved and worked
- Maintain a valid state issued driver’s license at all times
- Vehicles provided may only be used for official purposes in meeting contract requirement and may not be utilized for personal business, including home-to-work transportation
- Vehicles must be operated in a safe, fuel-efficient manner, and in accordance with all Department regulations and local laws; and the contractor’s fiscal responsibility for repairs of damage to a vehicle due to neglect, accident, and abuse
- Performs daily fueling and operator maintenance as required, report any and all accidents or mishaps
- Use of Government Vehicle by Non-Government Staff: Only authorized government employees and contractors are permitted to ride in government vehicles
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to drive a government vehicle
- Three years' experience driving van or similar vehicle
- Three years' experience as a courier
- Office computer use, email programs (MS Outlook), ILMS Ariba
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Staff are Department representatives on Capitol Hill and, as such, appropriate attire is required. Sports attire such as sweatpants and workout clothes as well as non-collared shirts containing advertising and “novelty” shirts are not allowed. Otherwise, comfortable, professional “business casual” attire along with shoes appropriate to walking and making deliveries are permitted
Desired Qualifications:
- One year of State Department experience preferred
Pay Range: $40-$45
