Overview:

This Full Time Nursing Supervisor position is for our Winner Program which is located in Philadelphia, PA. Winner is our 12 bed 3.5 residential program expanding to include a 3.7MM level of care for women, pregnant women and women with their children.

Gaudenzia is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Nurse Supervisor for this program (friendly work environment that promotes a team-oriented philosophy). We provide trauma informed care and support various levels of care. Our unwavering dedication is driven by a singular mission: promote long-term recovery by providing comprehensive treatment and support to people with substance use disorder, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related conditions, regardless of individual circumstances.

Our facilities specialize in providing low-high intensity residential treatment for SUD, Co-Occurring disorders and MAT services.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities in this role may include:

  1. Treat all clients and staff with dignity and respect.
  2. Supervise, train, and educate nursing staff assigned to their team.
  3. Implement, and monitor training needs and plans of the nursing staff.
  4. Ensure that nursing staff are following required documentation guidelines within the timeframe dictated by level of care, licensing, and regulatory entities.
  5. Administer medications, as well as supervise the self-administered medications, where appropriate and allowed by regulation.
  6. Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and accurate records of same in compliance with regulations and agency policy.
  7. Counsel clients on Disease Concepts of Addiction, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, medication education, infectious diseases, mental health, etc.
  8. Coordinate medication assisted treatment (MAT) and education for clients and staff.
  9. Act as a liaison between program and prescribers to ensure that clients have appropriate medical coverage to guarantee safety, adequate care, and provider compliance for payment.
  10. Ensure proper storage of medical supplies as required by regulation, including narcotic medication according to DEA guidelines.
  11. Participate and provide leadership in treatment/multidisciplinary team meetings and participate in medical CQI.
  12. Implement and assure adherence to infection control policies and practices.
  13. Oversee medical documentation/ electronic health record (EHR) use with a focus on compliance.
  14. Facilitate education of clients regarding health, nutrition, safety, and medication compliance.
  15. Complete monthly medication administration records (EMAR) audits and narcotic counts.
  16. Investigates and documents all medication errors under the Director of Nursing.
  17. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing and Director of Health Services or designee.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to work weekends at least once a month including one off shift per week to ensure to ensure program coverage.
  • May be required to work shifts outside of assigned shifts during critical staffing shortages.
  • The minimum holiday requirement is 1 major summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) and 1 major winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day (night shift: New Year’s Eve). Other Holidays will be rotated amongst all staff.
  • This position is deemed essential and will be required to work during inclement weather

Qualifications:

Qualifications for This Role:

Education/ Training:

  • Degree from an accredited college or university’s professional nursing program; must possess current RN license in good standing for the applicable state.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, with 1 year of experience treating individuals with substance use, mental health, or other related disorders. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a charge nurse or supervising health care worker(s). (May substitute BSN for 1 year of nursing experience and MSN for 2 years of nursing experience and 1 year of charge nurse or supervisory experience.)
  • Knowledge of the specific health care issues and co-morbidities experienced by individuals with substance use disorder and mental illness.
  • Knowledge of special population being served, including individuals with criminal justice involvement, women, and children, homeless, HIV/AIDS, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic principles, practices, and procedures involved in treatment programs.
  • Knowledge of correct record keeping in accordance with regulatory agencies and standards of practice.
  • Knowledge of proper nutritional requirements and practices for adults and children.
  • Knowledge of safe standards of nursing practice.
  • Ability to exercise administrative and professional supervision of employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with clients to gain confidence and cooperation.
  • Ability to successfully work with others from various cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and prepare appropriate, accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, health care providers, outside agencies, institutions, and the general public.
  • Skilled at using computers, including familiarity and faculty with Microsoft Office programs like Word and Excel
