If this sounds like you, Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Director of Behavioral Health services to be responsible for the oversight of Behavioral Health Services operations and ensures processes are in place to impact employee behavior toward effective and timely service provision, effective client treatment, and effective client engagement.
The Director, Behavioral Health Services reports primarily to the Chief Administrator, Health Services. For all matters related to Damar’s Residential Campus, The Director, Behavioral Health Services reports to the Executive Vice President, Intensive ID/DD Services.

- Provides overall supervision to facility administrators, managers, and treatment team who are responsible for behavioral health services under Damar Health Services program, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
- Keeps leadership informed of all operational and client issues daily.
- Manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of Damar Behavioral Health Services.
- Develops, presents to leadership, and implements organizational operating policies and procedures in accordance with all regulatory requirements, operating needs, and innovative solutions to quality improvement.
- Ensures implementation of appropriate clinical programming in the milieu.
- Oversees and engages in the resolution of employee issues including employee discipline.
- Oversees Outpatient Clinicians under Damar Health Services.
- Participation in COA and Quality and Compliance processes includes but not limited to providing quantitative and qualitative data, identifying trends, and creating plans of action to address service line needs, challenges, and issues relative to client care.
- Oversees the Counselor On-Call rotation.
- Oversees Damar’s crisis response program.
- Participates, either in person or by proxy in the Daily Flash Meeting to monitor and address critical incidents.
- Maintains, and is active in, professional association affiliations as appropriate.
- Actively participates in and/or oversees data collection and the use of data to improve outcomes, practices, and service delivery.
- Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned.
- Supports the fund-raising activities of the organization.
- Attends social functions that further the mission of Damar and as requested by the executive team.
- Participates in events which enhance the visibility of Damar, and which benefit the community in general.

- Collaborates with residential services to ensure continuity and consistency of Damar Behavioral Health Services across the organization.
- Coordinates with Human Resources, Quality and Compliance, Maintenance, Medical Services to ensure that procedures are in-place to facilitate risk management issues, health and safety programs, and fire and disaster protection.
- Ensures that when applicable families are actively engaged in the treatment process, communications with them are meaningful and all aspects of a child’s care include input from families.
- Utilizes data collection in relation to driving and tracking outcomes and achieving agency initiatives and goals.
- Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
- Ensures the organization is in good standing with regulatory bodies by high levels of accountability in the delivery of behavioral and clinical services.
- Monitors and ensures maximization of therapeutic services across campus and in the Damar Health Clinic.
- What you need to be considered...
- Master’s Degree in psychology, social work or another social services field preferred.
- 5 years of experience working with youth or adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- 5 years of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
- LCSW, LMFT, LMHC Licensure required.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
- Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening.
- Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal offenses.
Essential Job Functions:
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
