Associate Attorney

The contract phase requires on-site work in Oakland five days a week to foster collaboration, transitioning to a hybrid model upon conversion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee civil litigation cases from pre-filing through resolution, including all aspects of case analysis, strategy development, and client communication.
• Conduct detailed legal research, draft persuasive legal documents including complaints, answers, motions, and briefs, and prepare legal memoranda.
• Manage discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, conducting depositions, document review, and analysis.
• Collaborate on trial strategy, assist in witness preparation, jury selection, and prepare exhibits and trial materials.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including motions, hearings, and settlement conferences.
• Work closely with clients, keeping them informed of case status and strategy developments.

Qualifications:

• Newly barred attorney with a demonstrated interest in Civil Litigation (prior internships, clerkships, or paralegal experience in litigation is highly desirable)
• Strong litigation skills with excellent research, analytical, and writing abilities, particularly in drafting legal documents and case strategy.
• Exposure to the litigation lifecycle, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
• Ability to work on-site in Oakland, CA, five days a week during the contract period.
• Knowledge of California Civil Litigation procedures and local court rules
• Experience with case management software and proficiency in the MS Office Suite
