Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Lead is primarily responsible for developing and managing a team of engineers whose primary focus is the design and development of mechanical components and systems including, but not limited to, gas compression and separation systems, their components, and their accessories.
Responsibilities- Provide technical direction within a cross functional design engineering team to support timely completion of projects.
- Ensuring adherence to company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Maintaining a team of engineers which support the Business and Design Quality Objectives of the company.
- Managing a team of Engineers, including determining proper staffing levels, providing for development and training, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Leading by example of engineering design excellence.
- Reviewing engineering calculations and design output for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Assisting in the development of engineering design standards.
- Working with engineering management team to develop engineering design guidelines and work instructions.
- Monitoring work produced for quality, consistency, and adherence to design principles.
- Prioritizing scheduled (e.g. projects) and non-scheduled (e.g. change orders, test support, and failure analysis) work to meet program requirements and company objectives.
- Providing technical and engineering support as required for other departments.
- Participating in technical problem solving for current products through cross departmental teams.
- National and international travel as required to visit customers, vendors and attend seminars and training events.
- Performing all assignments and other duties in the best interest of the company or as directed by the Design Engineering Manager.
