Registered Nurse Behavioral Health - RNBH24-13864

Duration: 13 weeks

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to individuals experiencing mental health crises or chronic behavioral health issues. Assess patients’ conditions, develop individualized care plans, and administer treatment as prescribed.
• Be prepared to float to various inpatient behavioral health units as needed. Adapt quickly to different patient populations and unit protocols.
• Take on the role of Charge Nurse as scheduled, overseeing the unit operations during shifts, providing leadership to the nursing team, and ensuring proper delegation of tasks.
• Administer medications, including psychotropic drugs, monitor for side effects, and adjust care plans accordingly. Maintain accurate records of all medications and interventions.
• Implement de-escalation techniques and intervene during patient crises to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
• Act as a patient advocate by supporting their needs and rights while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, therapists, and case managers.
• Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely patient records in compliance with hospital policy and legal regulations, including documenting interventions and patient progress.
• Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and facility policies, including HIPAA and safety protocols.
• Be available to make up any missed shifts before the end of the contract as required.

Qualifications:

Licensure:

• Active RN licensure in the state of Vermont or compact licensure.

Experience:

• At least 1-2 years of experience in Behavioral Health, Psychiatric, or related inpatient nursing settings.

Skills:

• Proficiency in crisis management, strong communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable floating between units.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients, and manage physically demanding situations.
