Responsibilities:

  • 1. Evaluates, treats, and makes disposition of patients who present to the Emergency Dept. Takes appropriate history and performs physical examinations relative to patient complaints and accesses patient record if available and appropriate as determined by periodic chart review.
  • 2. Advises patient of evaluation and arranges for appropriate treatment of problem according to department standards. Advises patient specifically when follow-up is indicated as determined by chart review.
  • 3. Prepares appropriate patient records as mandated by JCAHO. Prepares patient medical record prior to patient discharge which contains appropriate history and physical findings relative to complaint; prepares a medical record which contains results of tests, when available; prepares a medical record which summarizes assessment, diagnosis, and outlines treatment program and disposition all determined by chart review.
  • 4. Participates in department Quality Assurance program; assists in determining what aspects of emergency care need to be reviewed as determined by observation. Assists in collection and analysis of data collection as required and observed by ER physician. Incorporate findings of Q.A. activity in self-improvements when indicated as determined by observation and re-evaluation.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

Completion of a four-year accredited physician assistant baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training. State accreditation based on medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every six years.

EXPERIENCE
  1. 2 years of experience required. 3+ years preferred. Previous Emergency Room experience strongly desired.
